Suren Vardanyan and Armine Vardanyan
SOAR is the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief, benefitting orphans. Painting purchases provide a 25% donation to a subset of SOAR, “Warm Hearth”, which provides for the needs of Armenian adult orphans living with a serious mental illness, unable to care for themselves. They live in one of three supervised residences in Armenia and depend mainly on donations but they also sell craftwork and weaving. The Warm Hearth Residence is the first of its kind in Armenia. Before this, these people would have to live in a mental institution with not the programs, care, love, and family setting that this residence provides. At “Warm Hearth”, the residents are treated with kindness and dignity. As well they learn daily living skills and a trade such as weaving, gardening, or cooking so that they can make a meaningful contribution to their home.

In 2015-2019 I studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts.
